Principal’s Message

Yesterday our sustainability committee met to look at what we are currently doing and how we can improve our practices both as a staff and with our students. Firstly, we are very pleased that we are using less electricity and less paper and ink as our photo copying reduces. This is all good news. In addition our students are taking very practical steps to help us on our sustainability journey. On Wednesdays there is a group of students collecting recycling, shredding paper, returning plates to KGV canteen (so we don’t have to use take away containers) and looking after our gardens. Together we can make a difference.

From time to time students need to change an item (or all) of their clothing when at school. Accidents happen and sometimes students are sick and require a change. Can I please ask that every student has at least one full change of clothes that is kept at school (labelled please). We have some spares but for hygiene reasons it is not necessarily expected that you return these items. Our supply is not endless and we don’t always have a full range of sizes. This makes it very important to have a personal spare set of clothing at school. Thank you for helping us with this.

A couple of weekends ago the annual Sedan Chair Race was on and we were proud to have some of our families and our School Council Chair, Virginia Morris participating in the activities. Thank you Sandra Feran and Sandra Lee. Also to Amanda for liaising with the race organisers and our PTA.

Next Wednesday is our annual fundraising walkathon that will be held at Perth Street oval. Thank you for supporting Masarang and one other charity to be nominated by our student council when they meet. This is a good time for a friendly reminder to send in your donation. You are welcome to join us, it’s always a fun event. Thank you Jackie for organising this and to the KJS students who help on the day.

Students are also preparing for our sports day on Friday 17, also at Perth Street oval. Again, you are welcome to come along and join in the fun and exercise.

After these events we will start to hear some Christmas music and see some preparation for the big show on Wednesday 13 December at 1pm. The show is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents, skills and creativity. We all enjoy the team work and look forward to sharing this with you.
