Principal’s Message

It”s hard to put into words all the feelings we are sharing about this week in Hong Kong. I am very grateful to everyone in our community who have gone ‘over and above’ to support each other, especially our students. Thank you families for being part of this. I look forward to seeing everyone back next week.

It’s also nice to share and celebrate the positives. Our whole school picnic last Friday at Inspiration Lake was once again a delightful way to spend a magnificent autumn day. There is a real feeling of community as students have a chance to get to know their peers in other classes for activities and of course sharing a delicious picnic. The staff also value time with each other outside the hustle and bustle of the school timetable. A special thanks to Carol for her excellent organisation, the PTA for covering the cost of the coach and all staff and families who contributed so much.

Our art room is looking nice and ‘messy’ at the moment. It’s full of cardboard and interesting bits and pieces that we will use for our Makers Day on Thursday 28 November. So many creative ideas and hands-on activities to explore. We are all looking forward to it. This is another one of the wonderful ideas that is part of our ‘Material World’ curriculum unit.

Thanks to our PTA we are holding another one of our very popular Student Discos. Please come along with your son or daughter with a $20 entrance fee and dance your heart out.

Kind Regards

Karin

Showcase – Gold class

This year we welcomed 6 new students to Gold Class, joining us are Saad, Lucas, Nick, Amrit, Joshua and Darren they join their new classmates Jacob, Ankit and Aryan.

Gold Class have settled in quickly to their new routines and have had lots of fun making new friends. This term we have been busy with our Materials Matter unit, students have been exploring, designing, building and reflecting on their creations. We have had lots of opportunities to be creative and inventive!
The students planned, designed, built and tested boats for their ASDAN project, they enjoyed testing their boats on the water play table – everyone’s boat floated – Success! We have also been busy exploring different materials with arty experiments, students have created their own pumpkin playdough, shaving foam marbling, and chalk paint.
This term we have enjoyed outings to the Children’s Discovery Museum where students had the opportunity to explore different science concepts through play and last Friday we had a fantastic day building friendships at the Whole School Picnic.
