Principal’s Message

…… and we’re back!!!!

What a delight to see everyone again. Not only did our students manage all the change and all the things that are different but we added three (false) fire alarms during a red rainstorm. Well done team.

Thank you families for assisting with the smooth return to in school learning. As we are adhering to EDB and CHP guidelines may I put out a friendly reminder to take your child’s temperature every day and send the record sheet provided to school when students are attending. Also, please remember that we are doing our best to keep additional people out of the building to keep the environment safe for students and staff. That includes helpers and parents please. Be assured that we have spent many hours planning details and we have all safety measures in place and we are ready for learning.

Congratulations to all students who submitted their artwork for the ESF online Art Exhibition. There were some outstanding pieces and we are very proud to show them off to our ESF community. Thanks again to Sally who has led this project and to families for your support.

Teachers and therapists are working on end of year reports and IEP evaluations to share with you in the next few weeks. You will also be invited to discuss these via zoom. I am sure that you understand that both the reports and the IEP will look different. You will see on the IEP that teachers are assessing (at least) one literacy and one numeracy target and the therapy team will also provide assessment for at least one target. Other targets will read as NM – not able to be measured. Of course we will pick up targets as appropriate in the next school year.

We are excited that we can now share the documents with you via the ESF app. You will notice that the new name for our VLE is ‘Sarah’. Some parents have trialled the app and we have had positive feedback. This app will also be the way we will message you in the future. In the meantime can I please ask (again) that you communicate with teachers via email and not use Whatsapp.

You will probably have noticed on the timetable from your class teacher that Friday 19th June is our graduation day. Normally (is there still such a thing?) we love to share this special occasion together at our special assembly. This year we are restricted to our graduating students (and students of Jade class), leavers and a limited number of family members. We also plan to live stream the ceremony to classrooms and I hope we can make this available to you.

We are working on our school calendar for next school year and we will share this on our website very soon.

Newsletters are a bit ‘out of sync’ but we will keep you updated and informed regularly until the end of this school year.

Kind Regards

Karin
