Welcome to the Jockey Club Sarah Roe School website. We are part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), Hong Kong’s largest provider of English-medium international education.
ESF’s integrated network of 22 schools and comprehensive programme of after-school activities help to bring out the best in every student through a personalised approach to learning and by inspiring curious minds. We are the only special school in Hong Kong delivering a curriculum in English. Our school was established in 1986 and named after Mrs Sarah Roe who was a well-known occupational therapist in Hong Kong. The building was donated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
We have an enrollment of 70 students with an age range five to nineteen years. All students have additional learning needs. Many students have an Autism Spectrum diagnosis and some students have complex needs.
We proudly offer a curriculum that is dynamic and balanced to ensure everyone is included and challenged. We have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy as well as providing opportunities for independence through a living skills, community learning and a vocational education program.
We work as a multi-disciplinary team of teachers, therapists and support staff and greatly value our partnerships with parents. Our school has a wonderful community feel and students benefit greatly from the inclusion programs with our neighbouring schools.
We are an accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), one of only three CIS special schools in the world to achieve this accolade.
