The assessment and review process within school sometimes indicates that a student’s educational needs might be better met in a Learning Support Centre (LSC) of a mainstream school. Requests for transfers are made by the school in conjunction with the parents. Two members of the ESF Assessment and Review Panel (ARP) carry out an observation of the student and compile a report based on the assessment and supporting documentation. This information is reviewed by the ARP moderation panel and a decision will be made regarding placement of the student. If students are considered ready for a transfer, they may need to wait until there are appropriate vacancies in the LSC.
