Volunteering at JCSRS

Speech Therapist

Responsibilities
A Speech and Language Therapist is required to join our dedicated and collaborative team of therapists and teachers who work together to empower students to reach their full potential. Reporting to the Principal, the successful candidate will work with students with complex needs in the areas of speech, language, AAC and mealtime management through direct (individual, group and whole-class) and indirect (consultation, training) intervention. The candidate will also support school curriculum development and implementation. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in working with children with disabilities with a high level of knowledge and expertise in AAC.

Requirements
The successful candidates must:
• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) from a recognized university
• Have a minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in working as a Speech Therapist with children with disabilities
• Have a high level of knowledge and expertise in both low and high tech AAC
• Have a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of recent developments in speech therapy research and practice
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills in English
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Educational Assistant

JCSRS is seeking to appoint 3 full time EAs to starting August 2020

Responsibilities
Main duties of the Educational Assistant in our school includes working in class to support students’ one to one and in small groups and prepare teaching resources.
Other duties include:
– Work as part of a multi disciplinary team and assist teachers in some administration and resource preparation
– Maybe required to support swimming program
– Maybe required to support community learning and secondary camp
– Other duties as requested by the leadership team


Requirements
– Highly competent written and spoken English
– Experience working with positive behavior support programs desirable.

Supply Educational Assistants

Responsibilities
Our School is recruiting Supply Educational Assistants who will be called on to cover in the event of staff absence . Main duties of the Educational Assistant in our school includes working in class to support students’ programmes and prepare teaching resources; also to work with students with severe and multiple learning difficulties.

Requirements
– A degree or alternate appropriate qualifications
– Good standard of spoken English
– Experience in special educational needs is preferred
– Using inclusive technologies
